Empowering Classroom Assistants to Support Literacy (Introduction Course)

Classroom assistants are one of the most valuable resources schools have in order to promote and improve Literacy levels, as they are instrumental in providing interventions, boosting the confidence of students and enabling students to access their learning. 

‘... their role is a developing one, consisting of providing emotional support for pupils in their care and using knowledge and skills to assist in the development of children’s learning while maintaining an excellent level of support for both the teacher and the school community.’ (UKEssays. As a result of this, it is vital that they are provided with the training and confidence to fulfil the demands of their changing and expanding role.

This course provides strategies and information to support CAs to:

  • Help students with – and promote the importance of – vocabulary.
  • Enable students to read for meaning and understanding.
  • Aid students with Literacy difficulties.
