Guiding Parents and Guardians: Helping Your Child with Literacy

Resources, methods and advice to support parents/guardians in aiding their child's Literacy development.

This course is designed for parents and guardians to help them support their child’s Literacy development. It can be challenging to find time to assist our children, which may be due to a lack of time, a lack of understanding of how to help, or a lack of confidence in our own Literacy skills. However, teaching parents/guardians some simple strategies and approaches can empower them to build upon what is being done at school and reinforce the key messages of good Literacy at home.

This course explores:

  • The importance of and how to promote Literacy at home.
  • Guiding, sharing and enjoying the reading.
  • Aiding vocabulary and spelling.

Parents will leave the session with lots of resources, strategies and methods to help support their children. There are two separate versions available: one for KS3 and one for KS4 parents/guardians.
