Taking on a leadership role can be challenging, especially when you do not have a dedicated 'team' to manage, such as form tutors or department members. Literacy Co-ordinators may sometimes find it easier to handle everything related to literacy themselves, such as extra-curricular activities, interventions, or strategies within their own classroom or department, to avoid overburdening other staff members. It's also common for new leaders to learn on the job without formal training, all while continuing to fulfil their teaching duties.
Literacy Co-ordinators should feel empowered to lead the whole school community and foster a culture of Literacy. This course provides strategies and information to support newly-appointed, existing, or aspiring Literacy Co-ordinators in promoting Literacy as a shared responsibility across the school.
