Roles And Responsibilities Of Effective Literacy Co-Ordinators

Taking on a leadership role can be challenging, especially when you do not have a dedicated 'team' to manage, such as form tutors or department members. Literacy Co-ordinators may sometimes find it easier to handle everything related to literacy themselves, such as extra-curricular activities, interventions, or strategies within their own classroom or department, to avoid overburdening other staff members. It's also common for new leaders to learn on the job without formal training, all while continuing to fulfil their teaching duties.

Literacy Co-ordinators should feel empowered to lead the whole school community and foster a culture of Literacy. This course provides strategies and information to support newly-appointed, existing, or aspiring Literacy Co-ordinators in promoting Literacy as a shared responsibility across the school.

We have used Learnspark for a number of years now to deliver support and training for parents and students to get them revision ready. They have a wealth of knowledge to share and are so entertaining! Parents in particular have found the support invaluable and we have found the sessions an excellent starting point to develop our partnership with parents in their child's learning.

Working with Learn Spark is an absolute pleasure, both in terms of their planning and execution of professional development sessions. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to ensure the training is interactive, informed by research, and bespoke to our school’s specific requirements and ethos is exemplary. They always exude a positive outlook and demeanour; the energy and enthusiasm they bring to TPL sessions are key to staff enjoyment and engagement.

The staff and students in St Patrick’s College have benefited greatly from the training and workshops provided to us over the years from Learn Spark. We have been inspired and supported in our journey to raise standards and meet the needs of students through the sessions we have participated in. We have enjoyed the high energy, interactive, engaging and progressive content and delivery. We have found ourselves returning to Learn Spark to secure new tailored training to help us meet the objectives set out in our School Development Plan and we are always assured that the content is both current and creative, solution focused and relevant.

We have worked with Learn Spark in several areas across our school.  The workshops and support provided, whether to further enhance our professional capacity or to build the wider skill set of our students or engage positively with parents, have all been interesting, engaging, energetic and beneficial to all involved.   Paul and his team provide a first-rate service and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
